Four Philippine Wonders of Nature nominated to of of the 7 Wonders of the World

The name Chocolate Hills comes from the colouring of the 30 – 50 meters high conical shaped hills. They are covered with grass that turns brown during the dry season, which makes them look like chocolate hills that loom from the earth. There are also many mystical creational stories from the local people.
The national park is 3901 hectare large and is 81 kilometers North West of the island capital of Puerto Princesa of the island of Palawan. The main attraction of the park is the 4,2 kilometer long underground river, which makes this river the longest navigable river in the world; it flows under a karst mountain and from there flows into the south china sea. Through the collapse of the cap rock was a 65 meter high dome created. The river is in places up to 8 meter deep and has formed in many places stalagmites and stalactites, organ pipes, curtains and domes.
The reef system attracts large swarms of fish and tortoises; mantas, whale sharks, deepsea sharks, mackerels and dolphins are the constant visitors. The almost 70 kilometers of steep face of the reefs are covered with large sponges, soft and rare black-corals. In the many grottos and caverns the walls contain nurse sharks and sting rays. Therefore it is not surprising that the Tubbatha Riff is one of the most beautiful diving areas in the world and belongs to the top ten diving places of the world.
